The Best Airlie Beach Cafes for 2026
Looking for the best Airlie Beach cafes?
Looking for the best cafes in Airlie Beach? Whether you’re chasing a good coffee, a big breakfast before heading out to the islands or a lazy brunch by the water, Airlie Beach has plenty of great spots to start the day.
From long-time local favourite
s and hidden gems to waterfront cafes overlooking the Coral Sea, there’s a good mix of places to grab breakfast, brunch or lunch around town. You’ll find everything from loaded breakfast burgers and classic eggs benny to acai bowls, fresh seafood and plenty of good coffee.
Here are some of the best cafes in Airlie Beach to check out on your next morning in the Whitsundays.
Wisdom Cafe
Small, casual and sitting right beside the Airlie Beach Lagoon, Wisdom Cafe is the kind of place you hit when you want a proper coffee and something good to eat without turning breakfast into a two hour affair. It’s built mostly around takeaway, so it’s perfect for grabbing something before a boat trip, heading down to the lagoon or wandering along the foreshore.
Coffee is a big part of what Wisdom does, but the food definitely isn’t an afterthought. Their sandwiches have built a solid following, with options like the Reuben and halloumi sandwich, while breakfast rolls and wraps make an easy grab and go option first thing in the morning.
If the Whitsunday heat is already kicking in, there are tropical acai bowls, smoothies and fresh juices as well. It’s not a massive sit down cafe with a giant menu, and that’s kind of the point. Wisdom is a great little Airlie Beach cafe for good coffee, a quick feed and one of the most convenient locations in town.

The Hangar Cafe & Bar
The Hangar Cafe & Bar is easily the most unusual cafe on this list. Sitting right alongside the runway at Whitsunday Airport, you can smash a coffee and breakfast while planes and helicopters take off just metres away on their way to Whitehaven Beach and the Whitsunday Islands.
They’ve properly committed to the aviation theme too. The Captain’s Breakfast is a monster, loaded with eggs, Whitsunday smoked bacon, chipolatas, baked beans, rosemary tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, toast, hollandaise and a Hangar hashbrown. For something a little less hectic, the Breakfast Bruschetta comes with tomato, red onion, feta, basil pesto, spinach, poached egg and hollandaise on toasted pane di casa.
There are Runway Bennys, Hangar Waffles, breakfast burgers, croissants and toasties as well, so there’s plenty to get stuck into before or after a flight.
You definitely don’t need to be flying anywhere to visit either. If you’ve got kids, like planes or just want a cafe experience that’s completely different from the usual Airlie Beach waterfront breakfast, The Hangar is well worth the short trip out of town.

Zorro's Cafe & Bar
Sitting right on the marina at Port of Airlie, Zorro’s Cafe & Bar is a great one when you want breakfast with boats bobbing around in the background. There’s indoor seating, but on a good Whitsunday morning you’ll want one of the alfresco tables overlooking the yachts.
The breakfast menu has all the classics, but there are a few dishes that go a bit harder. The Canadian Pancakes come stacked with caramelised grilled banana and bacon, then get absolutely drowned in maple syrup with whipped cream, strawberries and dulce caramel. Their Mushroom Delight is another good one, with garlic butter mushrooms, truffle oil, whipped ricotta and a poached egg piled onto grilled sourdough.
Zorro’s runs right through into lunch and tapas, so you can just as easily stick around for seafood and another drink if breakfast starts getting away from you.
If you’re searching for cafes in Airlie Beach with marina views, Zorro’s is a good excuse to wander down to Port of Airlie, grab a coffee and slow the morning right down.

Fat Frog Beach Cafe
A little further along the waterfront in Cannonvale, Fat Frog Beach Cafe is one of those places that feels properly local. You can walk there from Airlie Beach along the coastal boardwalk, grab a table by the water and settle in for breakfast with plenty of dogs, locals and salty Whitsunday characters doing exactly the same thing.
If you arrive hungry, the Fat Frog is the obvious move. It’s a big breakfast loaded with smoked bacon, chipolatas, house made Spanish beans, poached eggs, mushrooms and beer battered chips on sourdough. At the other end of the scale, the Green Frog packs in grilled asparagus, smashed avo, poached eggs, cherry tomato, hummus and pistachio dukkah.
There are buttermilk pancakes, eggs benny, smashed avo and plenty of coffee as well, while lunch rolls into fish tacos, barramundi and steak sandwiches. They even have a little menu for four legged customers, including veggie meatballs and a pretty outrageous vanilla ice cream and liver chip combo.
For a laid back waterfront cafe around Airlie Beach with good coffee, big breakfasts and a genuinely local feel, Fat Frog is hard to beat.

Sidewalk Cafe
Right in the middle of town and looking straight across the Airlie Beach foreshore, Sidewalk Cafe is a bit of a local breakfast institution. It opens early, has plenty of outdoor seating and is a cracking spot to grab a coffee and watch Airlie Beach slowly wake up around you.
The breakfast menu is big, with plenty more going on than your standard bacon and eggs. The Korean Fried Chicken & Belgian Waffles is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds, loaded with gochujang glazed crispy chicken, waffles and scrambled eggs. If you’re after something a little more traditional, the Smokin Benny piles slow cooked BBQ pulled pork, poached eggs and spicy hollandaise onto toasted sourdough.
There are lighter options too, including acai bowls, smashed avo and a smoked salmon bagel, plus a full coffee menu covering everything from your standard flat white to cold brew and iced coffee.
If you’re looking for one of the best cafes in Airlie Beach that’s central, easy and has a seriously good breakfast menu, Sidewalk is an easy one to add to the list.
