The Best Steak Restaurants in Airlie Beach

Looking for the best steak in Airlie Beach? From classic pub-style rumps and rib fillets to premium eye fillets, Wagyu and dry-aged cuts, there are plenty of places around town to get stuck into a good steak.

Whether you want a big steak and chips, surf and turf by the water or something a little more special for dinner, these Airlie Beach steak restaurants have plenty to choose from.

KC's Bar & Grill

If steak is the whole reason you’re going out, KC’s is the obvious heavyweight on this list. One of Airlie Beach’s original steakhouses, the grill covers eye fillet, rib fillet, sirloin, rump and picanha, with chips, salad and your choice of sauce.

Then there are the house dry-aged steaks, aged for at least 28 days, with cuts including sirloin on the bone and massive rib-on-the-bone steaks reaching up to 650g.

You can add creamy garlic prawn skewers for surf and turf too. Throw in live music, cold beers, whisky and KC’s legendary atmosphere and you’ve got a proper steak night.

Jubilee Tavern

Over in Jubilee Pocket, Jubilee Tavern is a solid option for a classic pub steak without heading into the middle of town. The grill covers three different cuts, including a 250g Queensland rump, 180g pasture-fed eye fillet and a big 300g rib fillet.

All steaks come with salad, fries and your choice of gravy, Dianne, pepper, mushroom or creamy garlic sauce. If you want to turn things into a proper surf and turf, you can add garlic prawns or salt and pepper calamari too. Relaxed, family friendly and exactly the kind of place you go when you want a straightforward steak and cold beer.

Mulligans Sports Bar

Right in the middle of Airlie Beach, Mulligans Sports Bar keeps its steak offering simple with its Slice It Steak & Fries. You get a 250g premium rib fillet cooked medium rare, sliced and served with Guinness and onion gravy, fries and salad.

If you want your steak in a slightly less traditional form, the St Pats Steak Sando packs premium rib fillet into Turkish bread with fresh tomato, parmesan, rocket, Guinness onions, ranch and Mulligans sauce.

Add live sport, pool tables, darts and the golf simulator and Mulligans is a good option when you want steak without the formal steakhouse experience.

Coral Sea Pavilion

For steak with a little more of a coastal dining feel, Coral Sea Pavilion serves an Eye Fillet across both its lunch and dinner menus.

At lunch, the eye fillet comes with fondant potato, seasonal greens and red wine jus. Come dinner, it gets a slightly different treatment with smoked parsnip purée, pumpkin, Brussels sprouts, red wine jus and horseradish cream.

The waterfront setting at Coral Sea Resort makes this a good option if you want steak somewhere a little more relaxed and polished, particularly around sunset. There’s plenty of seafood on the menu too if someone at the table would rather lean into the Whitsundays location.

Northerlies Beach Bar & Grill

It’s hard to argue with a big steak overlooking the water, and Northerlies has one of the biggest grill selections on this list.

There’s a 300g Great Southern grass-fed sirloin, 350g Diamantina Wagyu rump, 350g Red Gum scotch fillet and a 250g Beef City Cube eye fillet. If steak alone isn’t enough, you can add a creamy garlic prawn topper and turn it into surf and turf.

Sitting right on the waterfront at Woodwark with views back towards Airlie Beach, Northerlies is a cracking option for a long lunch or steak dinner with a proper Whitsunday backdrop.

Anchor Bar Airlie Beach

Anchor Bar takes a slightly different approach to steak. Rather than a massive list of cuts, the Hibachi menu focuses on a 250g MB6 Wagyu rump cap served with tallow fries, watercress salad, bone marrow butter and XXXX Gold mustard.

There’s also the Steak Sanga if you want something more casual, with Wagyu tri-tip, caramelised onion, house BBQ sauce, lettuce, pickles, tomato and pepper crema on sourdough with chips.

Perched on the hill above Airlie Beach with big views across town and the Coral Sea, Anchor is a great one when you want quality beef, a few drinks and somewhere worth settling into for the afternoon.

Boaty's Airlie Beach

Boaty’s keeps its steak nice and straightforward. The 250g local rump is cooked to your liking and comes with onion rings, chips, side salad and your choice of onion, peppercorn or red wine gravy.

It fits the venue perfectly. Boaty’s is casual, lively and sits right at the top end of the Airlie Beach main street, with regular live music and plenty happening around the bar. It’s not trying to turn steak into anything overly complicated.

If what you want is a local rump, chips, gravy and a cold drink in the middle of town, this one pretty much does exactly what it says on the tin.

Paradiso Rooftop Bar & Restaurant

Paradiso gives steak a slightly more polished treatment with its 250g Black Angus Eye Fillet. It comes with chat potatoes, onion jam, sesame shallot crumb and sautéed seasonal greens, with creamy mushroom, peppercorn or garlic sauce available on the side.

You can also add a seafood sauce if you want to bring a little surf and turf into the equation. Sitting right in the heart of Airlie Beach overlooking the foreshore, Paradiso is a great option if you want steak somewhere that can easily roll into cocktails and a longer night out.

There’s plenty of seafood, pasta and pizza on the menu for the rest of the table too.

Finding the Best Steak in Airlie Beach

There’s something pretty satisfying about finishing a big day in the Whitsundays with a properly cooked steak and a cold drink. Around Airlie Beach you’ll find everything from relaxed pub steaks and classic rump with chips and gravy to Wagyu, eye fillet, scotch fillet and premium dry-aged cuts.

The settings are just as varied. You can stay right in the middle of Airlie Beach, head towards the foreshore for dinner near the Coral Sea or venture a little further out for a waterfront steak with the Whitsundays as your backdrop.

Steak Restaurants Around Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays

Steak is well represented right across the Airlie Beach area. The main street has plenty of casual options within walking distance of accommodation, bars and nightlife, while the Airlie Beach foreshore gives you the chance to combine dinner with the coastal atmosphere the town is known for.

Head towards Jubilee Pocket and you’ll find more relaxed local dining, while travelling north towards Woodwark opens up another side of the Whitsundays with waterfront restaurants looking back towards Airlie Beach.

Whether you want a dedicated steakhouse or simply a good steak from a broader restaurant menu, there’s plenty of choice around the region.

Steak for a Casual Feed or a Big Night Out

One of the good things about steak is that it can be as casual or as serious as you want to make it.

A rump with chips and gravy at a local pub does the job perfectly after a day out on the water, while eye fillet, Wagyu or a big dry-aged cut can turn dinner into more of an occasion. Around Airlie Beach you can find both, along with plenty of surf and turf options if you want to bring some Whitsunday seafood into the mix.

Steak is also an easy option for groups, with many of the restaurants around town serving seafood, burgers, pasta and vegetarian dishes alongside their grill menus.

Steak, Sea Views and Whitsunday Evenings

You don’t necessarily associate steak with tropical North Queensland in the same way you do seafood, but the two fit together surprisingly well.

Warm evenings, views across the Coral Sea and the relaxed pace of Airlie Beach make it pretty easy to settle in for a long dinner. Around the foreshore and coastline you’ll find restaurants where you can order a steak while looking out across the water, while the main street gives you plenty of options if live music, bars and a bigger night out are part of the plan.

Whether you’re visiting the Whitsundays or you live locally, there are plenty of places around Airlie Beach to grab a good steak and make a night of it.
