Breakfast Restaurants in Airlie Beach

Right in the heart of town overlooking the Airlie Beach foreshore, Sidewalk Cafe has been doing breakfast for a long time and remains a favourite with locals and visitors. It opens early, has indoor and outdoor seating and is an easy spot to grab a coffee or sit down for a proper feed.

The menu goes well beyond the basics. The Forest Floor loads grilled mushrooms, spinach, soft eggs, halloumi, hollandaise and truffle oil onto sourdough, while the Smokin Benny comes with slow-cooked BBQ pulled pork, poached eggs and house-made spicy hollandaise.

Then there’s the Korean Fried Chicken & Belgian Waffles if you really want to get stuck into breakfast, plus smashed avo, chilli scrambled eggs, pancakes and the massive Big Brekky. If you’re hunting for a good breakfast in central Airlie Beach, Sidewalk gives you plenty to work with.

Breakfast at Coral Sea Pavilion comes with one of the better views in Airlie Beach. Sitting inside Coral Sea Resort overlooking the pool and Coral Sea, it’s a beautiful spot for a slower breakfast when you’re in no particular rush to get anywhere.

You can keep things easy with the Continental Breakfast Buffet or go for the Classic Breaky, loaded with Italian pork sausage, bacon, roasted tomato, potato rosti and eggs on sourdough. The Brekky Burger mixes things up with fried egg, grilled halloumi, smoked salmon mousse, avocado, rocket and chilli jam.

If breakfast needs to be something sweet, the Biscoff French Toast comes with caramelised banana, Chantilly cream and mixed berries.

Sitting right on the marina at Port of Airlie, Zorro’s Cafe & Bar is a cracking breakfast spot if you like a bit of a view with your morning coffee. Grab one of the alfresco tables by the water and you can watch the boats and yachts come and go while you get stuck into breakfast.

There’s plenty to choose from, including the Mushroom Delight with garlic butter mushrooms, truffle oil, whipped ricotta and a poached egg on sourdough. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, the Canadian Pancakes go all out with caramelised banana, bacon, maple syrup, whipped cream, strawberries and dulce caramel.

There’s also smoked salmon on sourdough, chilli scrambled eggs, eggs benny, bacon and eggs and plenty of barista-made coffee. A great option for a relaxed breakfast around the Port of Airlie.

Whisper Restaurant & Gin Bar does breakfast a little differently, with a full hot and cold breakfast buffet served every morning. Located at Mirage Whitsundays in Cannonvale, it’s a handy option if you’re hungry and want to build breakfast exactly how you like it.

Rather than choosing a single dish and calling it a day, the buffet lets you load up on a mix of breakfast favourites and go back for another round if you’re still hungry. That makes it particularly handy for families and groups where everyone wants something different.

Whisper is also one of the earlier breakfast options around Airlie Beach, with the buffet kicking off at 6:30am. The waterfront setting around Mirage adds to the relaxed feel, making it a good option for an early sit-down breakfast before getting on with the rest of your Whitsunday day.

If you’re up early and need coffee and breakfast without making a massive event out of it, Wisdom Cafe is a great little option. Sitting right beside the Airlie Beach Lagoon, it’s primarily geared towards takeaway and is especially handy before a boat trip, a morning by the lagoon or heading off to explore the Whitsundays.

Breakfast is simple and easy to grab, with bacon and egg sandwiches, brioche bacon and egg rolls, breakfast wraps and a bacon and egg muffin loaded with American cheese and hollandaise.

There are also fresh acai bowls if you want something lighter, along with smoothies, juices and plenty of coffee. Wisdom opens from 6am on most mornings, making it one of the better options in Airlie Beach when you need an early breakfast and want to get moving.

Boaty’s might be known for live music, drinks and its lively atmosphere later in the day, but it gets going early with a solid breakfast menu as well. Sitting right on the main street with a big outdoor dining area, it’s an easy place to roll into for a casual morning feed.

If you’re hungry, the Big Breakfast covers all the bases with eggs, bacon, Cumberland sausage, hash browns, beans, spinach and roasted tomato on sourdough. The Breakfast Burger is another good option, loaded with crispy bacon, fried egg, smashed avo, cheese, spinach, hash brown and BBQ sauce.

There’s also a Veggie Breakfast, avocado smash, eggs benny and fresh fruit salad with coconut yoghurt and muesli. It’s relaxed, central and particularly good if you’re looking for a straightforward breakfast without anything too fancy.

The Hangar Cafe & Bar has easily one of the most unusual breakfast settings around Airlie Beach. Sitting right beside the Whitsunday Airport runway, you can grab a coffee and watch planes and helicopters coming and going as they head out over the islands.

The aviation theme runs straight through the menu. There’s the Captain’s Breakfast loaded with eggs, Whitsunday smoked bacon, chipolatas, beans, mushrooms, spinach and a Hangar hashbrown, while the Runway Bene comes with your choice of smoked bacon, grilled halloumi or smoked salmon.

For something quicker, the Bacon & Egg Burger is loaded with bacon, egg, cheese, tomato relish, BBQ sauce and hollandaise, or you can go sweet with the Hangar Waffles and mixed berry compote.

You don’t need to be catching a flight to visit either. It’s a fun breakfast spot, especially if you’ve got kids or just like planes.

Paradiso might be better known for cocktails and live music later in the day, but its breakfast menu is seriously good in its own right. Sitting right in the centre of Airlie Beach overlooking the foreshore, it’s a great option when you want a longer sit-down breakfast with plenty to choose from.

The Cilbur Eggs come with poached eggs, labneh, garlic, dill, chives and chilli oil on sourdough, while the Brunch Eggs pile poached eggs onto zucchini and corn fritters with avocado salsa, goat curd, beetroot relish and plenty more.

There are also truffle mushrooms with pumpkin hummus and grilled halloumi, house-made waffles, omelettes, panna cotta and a full Captain’s Breakfast if you’re properly hungry.

Add good coffee, juices and breakfast cocktails into the mix and Paradiso works just as well for an early feed as it does for a lazy weekend brunch.

Tucked along the waterfront in Cannonvale, Fat Frog Beach Cafe is a local favourite and a great excuse to wander along the coastal boardwalk from Airlie Beach. It’s relaxed, dog friendly and has that proper neighbourhood cafe feel, with water views thrown in for good measure.

Breakfast ranges from lighter options like house-made bircher muesli and brekkie panna cotta through to some seriously filling plates. The Green Frog comes with grilled asparagus, smashed avo, poached eggs, cherry tomato, hummus and pistachio dukkah, while the Fat Frog loads up smoked bacon, chipolatas, Spanish beans, poached eggs, mushrooms and beer battered chips on sourdough.

There are also buttermilk pancakes, eggs benny, smashed avo and plenty of coffee. If you want a slower breakfast away from the middle of town, Fat Frog is well worth the walk.
